Tremaine Edmunds – LB

Once again, the Carolina Panthers face a very tough test this week against a Buffalo Bills defense that has weapons all over the place.

Middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds is one of those weapons and he’s coming off a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in which he racked up 12 tackles and a pass breakup.

The Panthers will still be figuring out their run offense with Christian McCaffrey out for the year and Edmunds will be a huge challenge this week if Matt Rhule wants to move forward with his run-first philosophy on the road.

Edmunds is still just 23-years-old and possesses plenty of speed and athleticism to match up with the Panthers offensive weapons. There have been some struggles from the player this year on occasions, with no real splash plays to speak of, either.

The former first-round pick out of Virginia Tech has been consistent, but Carolina needs to avoid any potential big plays that he makes this week to improve its chances of stunning the NFL world and denting Buffalo’s postseason hopes in the process.

Easier said than done, obviously. But if the Panthers can get the run game going with Chuba Hubbard, Ameer Abdullah, and Cam Newton, it might keep things closer than many expect.
