Cam Newton throws 2+ TDs for the Carolina Panthers

This might be a bold prediction for anyone not paying attention. But upon further examination, it is exactly that.

Cam Newton and the offense have struggled at times over the last three games. There have been some nice moments, make no mistake, but things become increasingly disjointed as contests go on and whether the Carolina Panthers coaching staff can solve these riddles this late in the season is highly unlikely.

Newton took a big risk coming back after not playing all year. He saw this as an opportunity to right some wrongs and start proving he still has what it takes, which has come with mixed success so far.

Of course, it’s worth remembering that this was far from an ideal situation for Newton to be walking into. No matter how nostalgic and inspiring it was initially.

Matt Rhule also remains insistent on adopting a two-quarterback scheme that seldom works in college, never mind the NFL. The head coach has made some poor choices at the most important position on the field since taking over and if this latest gamble doesn’t pay off, the repercussions could be severe.

Newton is no stranger to Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott, who was Carolina’s defensive coordinator during their glory run in the 2010s. The former Auburn star wants to put on a show and throwing two touchdowns or more would be a tremendous step in the right direction.
