Carolina Panthers red-zone defense
It was a little more productive where the Carolina Panthers defense was concerned at the Buffalo Bills. The front seven made life difficult for quarterback Josh Allen and the coverage was more better than anticipated in the absence of A.J. Bouye and Donte Jackson, but one critical area eventually came back to haunt them.
Red zone defense.
Once the Bills got inside the 20-yard line, they had their way with the Panthers more often than not. Allen managed to convert four of five opportunities into touchdowns, which separates the good teams from the not so good when it’s all said and done.
When the Bills needed Allen to make plays, he came up with the goods behind a line that held their own in big moments.
If only Carolina was afforded such a luxury.
Buffalo’s offense can put up points in a hurry. Allen is one of the best in the business for a reason and in the end it was simply too much for the Panthers to overcome.
There weren’t any expectations on the team to get anything from this one. But if efficiency doesn’t improve at the business end of the field defensively, the same problems could resurface when they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints over the next three weeks.
