Trades aplenty in full 7-round Carolina Panthers 2022 NFL mock draft
By Dean Jones
Which way will the Carolina Panthers go with their approach during what’s sure to be another hugely eventful 2022 NFL Draft for the franchise?
With all playoff hope gone for the Carolina Panthers, fans and analysts have turned their attention to what is going to be a critical offseason period for the organization. Sunday’s loss at the Buffalo Bills puts Matt Rhule’s men at 5-9 after their 3-0 start, which is not the greatest sign that things are progressing in the head coach’s second season in charge.
Rhule’s status within the Panthers could be in doubt if the team cannot show any signs of life over the next three games. Although firing him before Year 3 would be a substantial reset from team owner David Tepper.
That’s yet to be decided. But if the Panthers want to strengthen problem areas of their roster with just $29 million in salary-cap space remaining in 2022, then the best way to do this is through the draft.
Carolina doesn’t possess a Day 2 pick currently after trades for Sam Darnold and C.J. Henderson. It’s highly likely the Panthers will be selecting in the top-10 once again, which represents an opportunity for general manager, Scott Fitterer, to explore some potential trade-down scenarios to acquire additional capital.
Using Pro Football Network’s simulator, we took a look at how the Panthers might approach this year’s NFL Draft in a full seven-round mock.
