Carolina Panthers pick No. 211

Jerreth Sterns – WR (Western Kentucky)

Finding help at the wide receiver position could depend on just how much growth the likes of Shi Smith and Terrace Marshall Jr. display during the offseason. Both wideouts have been virtual non-factors as rookies and unless improvements are made, then acquiring another promising player at the position is almost guaranteed.

To say Jerreth Sterns has lit up the college football season would be the biggest of understatements. The wide receiver put up substantial numbers for Western Kentucky and developed incredible chemistry with quarterback Bailey Zappe along the way.

Sterns got plenty of responsibility right out of the gate and didn’t look back. His ability to make plays all over the field is nothing short of extraordinary and something that should give him plenty of confidence in readiness for the next level.

In just 13 games this season, Sterns accumulated 137 receptions for 1,718 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. Although the standard of competition will undoubtedly rear their head when it comes to the player, these numbers are going to make NFL scouts sit up and take notice nonetheless.

The route-running is there and the ball skills Sterns has at his disposal are exemplary. Considering how Carolina’s passing game has gone this season, it’s a flyer worth taking.
