3 Carolina Panthers players who should be benched after Week 15 loss

Cam Erving – Carolina Panthers OT
Sunday’s game at the Buffalo Bills was arguably Cam Erving‘s worst of the season so far.
And that’s saying something.
The left tackle has been a major disappointment after joining the Carolina Panthers on Day 1 of free agency. Just why those in power handed the underperforming former first-round pick a two-year deal is anybody’s guess, but it’s evident he cannot be trusted to provide consistent blindside protection and should be removed from the starting lineup immediately.
According to Pro Football Focus, Erving gave up one sack, one quarterback hit, and six hurries to secure a lowly 36.3 grade for his pass-blocking in Week 15. Meanwhile, Brady Christensen was left sitting on the sidelines as a bystander once again.
Erving stated it was the media trying to create division with their comments last week after defeat to the Atlanta Falcons. But how much longer can his inept production be tolerated by the coaching staff?
Their clear reluctance to give Christensen – a prospect they traded up to acquire coming out of BYU – at his preferred position is a microcosm of just how Matt Rhule and this staff is evaluating players at the pro level.
We’ve seen enough of Erving. But admitting you’re wrong is hard to do and this might give the Florida State product a reprieve.
