4 upcoming free agents the Carolina Panthers could extend on the cheap

Juston Burris – Carolina Panthers S
Things are up in the air regarding the future of Juston Burris. The safety has performed relatively well throughout the season alongside Jeremy Chinn, but a frustrating injury midway through the campaign means he might not be the most dependable when it comes to staying healthy.
That being said, the Panthers have a big call to make in terms of where Chinn is best suited this offseason. His production has still been of a high standard on the backend, but the team might opt to switch him back to the outside linebacker position to become more influential around the line of scrimmage.
Any potential Burris extension seems to rest on which way the Panthers go with Chinn. It would be a surprise to see Carolina not take a promising safety prospect from the college ranks, which could further complicate matters where the North Carolina State product is concerned.
Burris represents a significant upgrade on anything Carolina has behind the starting duo. If he was willing to accept an incentivized, short-term deal as part of the rotation, then the Panthers should not hesitate if additional reinforcements are acquired.
Solid pros who put the team first and don’t cause a distraction are always highly sought after in free agency. Burris falls into this category so the Panthers might want to keep him around in some capacity.
