4 things that must be on Panthers Christmas wish list for 2022
By Dean Jones
What things have to be on the Carolina Panthers Christmas wish list as the team gets set for a pivotal offseason period in 2022?
Christmas is a special time of year. A time for family, football, and enjoying the festive season with good food, gifts, and making the people in your life happy.
The Carolina Panthers will be getting ready for their Week 16 clash against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – their final home contest of the 2021 season. There is no chance of Matt Rhule’s men making the playoffs now, so fans and hopefully those in power already have half an eye on planning for a crucial offseason.
There are some critical decisions awaiting the Panthers. And if things continue to trend on a downward curve over their remaining three games, then it might end up coming with team owner David Tepper making a drastic coaching change, too.
All that is yet to be decided. But here are four things that the Panthers must put on their Christmas wish list ahead of 2022.
Number 1
Carolina Panthers extend Haason Reddick
For all the Panthers’ faults in 2021, the signing of Haason Reddick was undeniably one of the steals of free agency. The edge defender has taken his game to new heights after linking up with Rhule once again, displaying the sort of explosiveness and consistency that’s been sorely lacking opposite Brian Burns in recent years.
Reddick bet on himself by agreeing to a one-year deal with a reduced salary cap. The Temple product’s been rewarded with a Pro Bowl campaign that is surely going to come with a substantial contract when it’s time to begin negotiations.
If the Panthers had any sense, they would tie Reddick down long-term. It’s going to cost them, but the player has already proven worthy of such a huge financial commitment.
