Which Carolina Panthers deserve coal in their Christmas stocking this year due to their performance throughout the 2021 season?
It’s been a troubling year with little to cheer for Carolina Panthers fans. Another losing campaign was confirmed with defeat at the Buffalo Bills, all but ending the team’s playoff hopes and increasing the pressure significantly on head coach Matt Rhule in the process.
Whether the Panthers can salvage anything from the 2021 season is up for debate. Games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints before the offseason make things difficult, so it’ll be interesting to see how this roster and coaching staff picks themselves up and demonstrates whatever fight they have left in the face of stiff competition.
There appears little doubt big changes are coming once again in some shape or form. What happens over the festive period will go a long way to determining what the landscape for Carolina could look like this spring.
On the subject of Christmas, here are four Panthers who deserve nothing but coal in their stockings this year.
Panther No. 1

Cam Erving – Carolina Panthers OT
We won’t spend much time on this. But the signing of Cam Erving was a complete disaster and something that’s clearly held the Carolina Panthers back.
Little was expected of Erving when he penned a two-year deal on Day 1 of free agency. Just why the Panthers felt the need to go after the former Florida State star given his production since arriving in the league will forever be a mystery.
Not only has Erving failed to perform on the field, but his constant chat during pressers and even accusing the media of trying to create division hasn’t exactly left the best impression.
