Tommy Tremble has a career day for the Carolina Panthers

It’s been an encouraging rookie season overall for Tommy Tremble. The third-round pick has flashed tremendous promise at times in 2021, but the Carolina Panthers aren’t using tight ends all that much in the team’s gameplan, which is limiting the former Notre Dame star’s production.

Tremble is a work in progress when it comes to route-running and catching the ball. But the athleticism is there, and the player possesses the potential to become a complete package in the coming years.

This will be the last chance Treble gets the opportunity to showcase his development at Bank of America Stadium this season. His current career high in yardage is 35, but don’t be surprised if he tops this number considerably against a linebacker corps that will be without the services of All-Pro Lavonte David.

Obviously, there are factors outside of Tremble’s control that will dictate his usage. But the Panthers have little else to play for other than pride and now is the time to start giving young players more of an opportunity over the next three games.

With Ian Thomas out of contract in 2022 and unlikely to come back, this represents an audition of sorts for Tremble to win the No. 1 job next season. Even though Carolina might decide to bring in additional reinforcements to compete.

Putting up career numbers against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would help. Something the tight end is more than capable of providing the necessary targets come his way.
