Panthers WR Brandon Zylstra is the epitome of ‘Keep Pounding’
By Brian Emory
Brandon Zylstra’s encouraging performances and determination over the second half of the 2021 season as the epitome of the Carolina Panthers’ mantra.
It’s hard to find positives within the Carolina Panthers organization right now.
After being in the thick of the playoff hunt a month ago, the Panthers have fully collapsed after losing a string of winnable matchups.
The old saying that “hard times create strong men” can certainly be applied to the game of football. As the losses pile up, it’s always enlightening to see which players continue to show pride in wearing the Panthers logo.
As the season somehow gets more frustrating every week, there is one Panther that continues to uphold the franchise’s mantra of “Keep Pounding”. While it may not always show up in the boxscores, Brandon Zylstra is making the most out of every opportunity the team presents to him.
Zylstra is a prime example of a player that was never supposed to make it to the NFL. The wide receiver is from the town of Spicer, Minnesota – with a population of less than 2,000 – which is hardly a hotbed for NFL talent.
However, the story involving Zylstra is an inspirational one. Something that will surely be a benchmark to others from obscure backgrounds aiming to follow his path into the pros.
