Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR
It’s been a difficult season for Robby Anderson after he signed a two-year extension with the Carolina Panthers before competitive action began. The wide receiver suffered problems with drops earlier in the campaign and just hasn’t hit the heights of a stunning 2020 after he was acquired from the New York Jets in free agency.
Anderson came under fire and hit back after celebrating a first down when the Panthers were down 32-6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That was all well and good, but the wideout then went on the attack in relation to the boos that emanated from Bank of America Stadium when Sam Darnold was introduced at the expense of Cam Newton.
"“Like, that’s not real fans, you know what I’m saying? For the culture that we’re building, we don’t want no fake fans. We want diehard, loyal fans that’s gonna ride or die for us. Simple as that.”"
The fans weren’t really booing Darnold, so that is a false narrative in one respect. Anderson is a passionate man that wears his heart on his sleeve – a straight-shooter that has absolutely no trouble voicing opinions for good or bad.
Again, this is all about production. If the Panthers or Anderson were performing to the level expected, then things like this probably get brushed under the carpet.
Unfortunately, they aren’t. And unless Anderson finishes the season on a high note, he could be a potential trade candidate this offseason.
