Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

  • Leads the team in receptions and yards

Robby Anderson came out in defense of Sam Darnold this week, stating he didn’t like how the quarterback was booed when he replaced Cam Newton against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the wide receiver was clearly unaware that most jeers weren’t for the returning signal-caller and were more a statement at the way the whole situation has been handled by Matt Rhule and his staff.

The Carolina Panthers are moving forward with Darnold as the starter. Although it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Newton involved at some stage.

Anderson went to bat for his former teammate on the New York Jets. But calling out fans for being fake wasn’t the brightest move given the wideout’s regression throughout the campaign.

That being said, Anderson speaks his mind for good or bad.

Nobody could accuse him of anything else.

The best way Darnold could thank the Temple product is by returning the favor where it matters most. Anderson’s frustration with the quarterback boiled over on a couple of occasions before the signal-caller went to the reserve/injured list. If either wants a future beyond the current season, they must work in unison to put up the numbers needed to secure an unlikely victory on the road.

If this scenario comes to fruition, we might see Anderson lead the Panthers in both receptions and yards gained when it’s all said and done.
