5 Saints players the Carolina Panthers must keep quiet in Week 17
By Jason Huber
Demario Davis – LB
At 32 years old, Demario Davis is another veteran on the New Orleans Saints defense that has continued to excel despite his advancing age.
Davis will return for New Orleans this week after missing last week’s game due to COVID. To say his presence will be very welcome would be an understatement.
The former Arkansas State stud currently leads the team in total tackles with 95 and has also come up with three sacks on the season.
Since Week 9, the Saints have allowed just 3.87 yards per rush while forcing three fumbles and making 40 tackles for loss. Davis has been a big of that, playing in every defensive snap and making big plays seemingly at will.
The Carolina Panthers have struggled to run the football with Christian McCaffrey out unless it’s been signal-caller Cam Newton carrying the rock. But with Sam Darnold getting the starting nod, Davis has the ability to limit the team’s run offense even more if allowed.
It’s no secret that Carolina’s offense is bad and this will be a huge test for them. Especially considering the Saints are playing at home and aren’t quite out of the postseason race just yet.
