Matt Paradis – Carolina Panthers C
The Carolina Panthers gave Matt Paradis a significant amount of money to sign him from the Denver Broncos in free agency. Although the assistance around him wouldn’t be classed as stellar, the veteran hasn’t lived up to his hefty price tag by any stretch of the imagination.
Paradis just didn’t look the same force in Carolina and has dealt with multiple injuries to further lessen his influence. Another indifferent campaign from the Boise State product was cut short by an ACL tear during a Week 9 loss to the New England Patriots and it would be a major surprise if we saw him in a Panthers uniform again.
The Panthers don’t have a better option available right now, although Pat Elflein looks far more comfortable at the center spot than he does at guard. However, given that Paradis won’t be available for the start of 2022, it might be best for both parties to go their separate ways.
This isn’t what anybody envisaged when the Panthers brought Paradis on board. But it’s hard to feel bad for a player that’s getting $9 million from Carolina next season even if he’s not around following a contract restructure.
Paradis could be described as another expensive mistake by the previous regime in Carolina. Although the current process isn’t exactly thriving, either.
