Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

Things looked promising for Robby Anderson before the season when he signed a two-year extension after a standout first campaign with the franchise. The wide receiver went over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career and looked like a No. 1 option opposite D.J. Moore with an ability to impact proceedings all over the field.

Sadly, this hasn’t continued in 2021. Although one could place plenty of blame on the quarterback conundrum within the Carolina Panthers when it comes to Anderson’s regression.

The Temple product went through some drop problems early in the campaign. His chemistry with Sam Darnold was way off and although there was a brief glimpse of promise when Cam Newton returned, things have tailed off pretty quickly.

Anderson is a likable guy. And as we saw last season, the talent is definitely there.

However, it hasn’t come together this season and all Anderson can do is reflect, regroup, and hope the Panthers get their act together when it comes to finding a better solution under center.

There will be some obvious rumors surrounding Carolina potentially trading Anderson this offseason. But the $7.6 million dead-cap figure and convincing another team to part with draft capital is going to be extremely difficult in this eventuality.
