Carolina Panthers RBs

Offensively, the Carolina Panthers never established an identity this season. In mid-October, Matt Rhule stated he wanted to commit to running the ball more and we will have a different look moving forward.

For numerous I can think of, this has not happened.

Maybe the team is playing catch-up all the time and forced to throw?

Maybe the line cannot open sufficient holes?

Maybe the personnel on the field is better suited for the passing game?

Maybe Christian McCaffrey truly is a difference-maker that is missing?

Maybe the change in offensive coordinator has had an impact?

Maybe Rhule does not know how to implement this?

It is well known that a solid running game will open the passing game as the defense has to respect a back – or perhaps a tandem – capable of picking up those tough yards between the tackles for a first down or popping outside to scamper down the sideline.

Chuba Hubbard and Ameer Abdullah are not All-Pro running backs. But they seem to be capable when given the opportunity and have flashed on occasions in recent weeks.

By moving the chains and keeping the clock running, this unit will help the wide receiving corps get open and keep the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense off the field. This is, of course, the best way to restrict Tom Brady’s influence.
