Ikem Ekwonu – OL (NC State)

Unless the Carolina Panthers solve their offensive line problems in free agency, it would be an absolute bombshell if their first-round pick wasn’t spent on this positional group. They’ll also have the opportunity to take one of the best available considering where they’re going to be sitting in the draft order.

Whether Evan Neal will still be around is up for debate. But someone with the incredible physical attributes of Ikem Ekwonu wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize by any stretch of the imagination.

Ekwonu has come of age this season at North Carolina State, dominating almost everyone that’s been unfortunate enough to come up against him. This is done with premier footwork, mobility, and power that almost defies belief.

Another thing Ekwonu has going for him is versatility. The lineman can operate as a left tackle or on the interior, demonstrating exceptional prowess in run support and pass protection in equal measure.

The prospect also has the explosiveness to be kicked out and has no trouble impacting proceedings at the second level. Ekwonu is a high-character individual and once the player has hands on you, it’s normally a wrap.

This would be a popular pick for the Panthers. One that could completely transform their fortunes on the offensive line.
