What are some areas the Carolina Panthers should address immediately this offseason to be more competitive next year?

By 5:00 PM this Sunday, the Carolina Panthers will have competed in 17 regular-season games for the first time in NFL history. With anything, there are pros and cons to increasing the number of fixtures, but there is no going back to 16 where the league is concerned despite the obvious risks.

Unfortunately, the Panthers won’t be entering the postseason picture when their game at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers comes to a conclusion. After taking on Tom Brady for the second time in three weeks, the offseason will be upon us.

For the first time after Week 18, the fanbase will not have to worry about another pending loss on the schedule, which quarterback combination Matt Rhule may deploy, or the number of excuses we will hear post-game.

Instead, we will sit back and enjoy the playoffs while Carolina can get a head start on their offseason preparations to best position themselves to be competitive in 2022.

The opponents are already set and it will be a difficult hill to climb with some talent gracing the field of Bank of American Stadium in the form of the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers, and their NFC South divisional foes all coming to town.

With the pending offseason mere days away, it is not too early to start thinking about how to improve and be more competitive on a weekly basis. Here are five action items the team needs to take immediately.
