6 realistic starting QB options for the Carolina Panthers in 2022
By Nick Halden
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Ryan Fitzpatrick has made a myriad of stops throughout his career. Some as a starter and some as a backup. Regardless of the role he takes, it seems every season he ends up starting a game and outgunning a far superior quarterback.
Fitzpatrick is a gunslinger who is going to win games against contending teams that should beat him and lose to rebuilding ones because he turns the ball over. The signal-caller is a player that you can have a lot of success with and will ultimately become a frustration.
He is good enough to get your team in contention and win shootouts in the regular season. But won’t win consecutive playoff games.
The Carolina Panthers would have a lot more fun with Fitzpatrick at the helm. Even if their frustration would equal the issues with Sam Darnold at times.
The best recent example of what Fitzpatrick can bring to a team is his time with the Miami Dolphins. With the experienced figure as the starter, they were a playoff team and would have been an interesting wildcard, make no mistake.
Instead, they opted to go with Tua Tagoivailoa, bench Fitzpatrick, and the team paid the price. Whether the Panthers would consider the wily old player at this stage is up for serious debate.
