Pep Hamilton would be a shrewd offensive coordinator appointment by the Carolina Panthers as a potential replacement for Joe Brady in 2022.

Amidst the chaos of Black Monday, NFL Network insider Ian Rappaport dropped a meaningful nugget in connection to the Carolina Panthers. It didn’t have anything to do with Matt Rhule being removed from his position, but a potential replacement for offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

According to Rappaport, the Panthers have already reached out to the Houston Texans to secure an interview with Pep Hamilton for the team’s vacant offensive coordinator position.

Rappaport’s statement came less than 24 hours after Jay Glazer of Fox Sports revealed that Rhule still wasn’t safe, contrary to prior reports from the weekend – claiming that the head coach needed to present a “rock star” offensive coordinator in order to save his job.

At this point in time, we can’t accurately measure the validity of Glazer’s reports. Also, if there is any legitimacy, it’s impossible to know what David Tepper qualifies as a landmark offensive coordinator appointment.

What we do know is that Rhule addressed the Panthers’ media Monday afternoon, and he continued to state that every conversation he’s had with Tepper as of late has revolved around the future of the franchise. Anything can still happen, but it does feel overwhelmingly likely that Rhule will get a third season as the head coach.

If Rhule does return, Hamilton poses as one of the more intriguing offensive coordinator candidates the team could realistically hope to obtain. The respected figure boasts a lengthy NFL resume that includes stints with seven different franchises.
