Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson has missed a lot of football this season. The Baltimore Ravens got some impressive production from Tyler Huntley in the former NFL MVP’s absence, which could see the backup get a significant amount of interest on the free-agent market as a result.

Although Cam Newton wouldn’t threaten Jackson’s status in any way, this could be a mutually beneficial arrangement if the Ravens lose Huntley as expected. It would provide Baltimore with a reliable backup option capable of working with the same playbook and give them another running quarterback that can be used in certain packages.

Whether this is something the Ravens would contemplate is unclear. But it is something Jackson would no doubt sign-off on given the esteem in which Newton is held across the league.

Newton said he wouldn’t be a backup for “a 5-12 team”, which is understandable after how much the signal-caller has accomplished during his career. However, the chance to link up with Baltimore is an enticing proposition he’d no doubt consider.

The Ravens will be looking to bounce back after missing the postseason in 2021. Newton could be a useful addition on offense in pursuit of wrestling back the AFC North crown.
