Stephon Gilmore could join the Kansas City Chiefs

Another potential team that might be interested in Stephon Gilmore is the Kansas City Chiefs. Andy Reid’s men have shaken off some early jitters to become a legitimate Super Bowl contender once again, but there promises to be plenty of twists and turns to come before the AFC Championship is formally decided.

Kansas City’s secondary wouldn’t be classed as stellar. Although it’s made slight improvements throughout the campaign, if they want to avoid further complications in 2022 then making someone like Gilmore a priority if he hits the free-agent market would be a shrewd move.

Playing with such a talented group would interest a veteran heading into the final stages of their career. Something that Gilmore is despite playing at a high level for the Carolina Panthers over the second half of 2021.

Finding difference-makers that can lock down the opposition’s best wide receiver is a tough proposition via the draft. That’s why there was expected to be a frenzy of offers coming Gilmore’s way before the Panthers struck a deal with the New England Patriots.

Considering Gilmore showed no obvious signs of slowing down this season, there should be teams queuing up to secure his services if Carolina cannot work out an extension that benefits both parties. And make no mistake, the Chiefs should be among those willing to make an offer.
