Carolina Panthers select Kenyon Green – OG (Texas A&M)

Despite the fact that Kenny Pickett and Sam Howell were still on the board, the Carolina Panthers opt to play it safe and draft Kenyon Green. The offensive lineman went up against the best pass rushers in the SEC and held his own, which should make him a hot commodity during the evaluation process.

In particular, when Green played Alabama in Texas A&M‘s upset over the Crimson Tide, the prospect was impressive. Blocking against players that will be playing on Sunday showed why he is one of the top offensive prospects in this draft.

With a solid defense and playmakers offensively, Carolina is two problems away from becoming a playoff contender.

Quarterback is the obvious answer and how the Panthers choose to address that position will be one of the most interesting stories of the offseason. The second issue is Carolina cannot win in the trenches.

There is a reason Carolina struggled once Christian McCaffrey went down with an injury yet again this season. The running back was covering up a lot of problems in the first three games of the campaign due to just how dynamic and explosive he can be.

Once McCaffrey was out of the picture it was obvious Carolina wasn’t able to win upfront. Green is the first step towards solving these offensive line issues and a safe first-round selection.
