  • 2021 team – Wyoming Cowboys

One name that is generating a significant amount of buzz throughout the 2021 season should be another realistic option for the Carolina Panthers. Chad Muma has been a beast in every sense of the word throughout his time at Wyoming, displaying the sort of instincts and play-making ability that should translate very well to the next level.

At 6-foot-3 and 242 pounds, Muma is the stereotypical size for a middle linebacker and made his senior year with the Cowboys count in no uncertain terms. In just 13 games, he racked up 142 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns to send his draft stock through the roof at the best possible time.

Muma is projected to be a second-round selection. Although that could change depending on how the prospect tests at the NFL Scouting Combine in the coming weeks.

The Carolina Panthers would probably need to acquire some Day 2 capital to justify targeting someone like Muma. But if Jermaine Carter does leave, finding a replacement should be one of their biggest priorities heading into the offseason.

Muma is a difference-maker. Something the Panthers will need manning the second level if Carter and the team go their separate ways.
