Which young quarterbacks could the Carolina Panthers potentially trade for in 2022 as they look for an upgrade on Sam Darnold?

One of the biggest problems behind the struggles endured by the Carolina Panthers in 2021 was their lack of production under center. The organization had a revolving door at the most important position on the field and this was their undoing on countless occasions en route to their third-straight five-win season and almost no progression in the second year of Matt Rhule’s tenure.

Of course, playing behind such a disappointing offensive line didn’t help matters. But it’s hard to envisage a situation where Sam Darnold miraculously turns around poor decision-making and inept processing this offseason entering Year 5 of his professional career.

The Panthers picked up Darnold’s fifth-year option with a guaranteed $18.85 million before they had the chance to properly evaluate the signal-caller. This leaves them with one hand tied behind their back in terms of recruitment in the coming weeks, but that won’t stop general manager Scott Fitterer from exploring every possible avenue in pursuit of turning around the team’s fortunes.

Carolina Panthers might make another move at QB due to Sam Darnold’s struggles.

With no Day 2 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft currently, that will obviously be easier said than done. Carolina might need to get creative if they decide not to wait until 2023 when Darnold comes off the books.

It’s going to be an intriguing offseason, to put it mildly. And the Panthers cannot put a foot wrong with Rhule on the hottest of seats.

With this in mind, here are four young quarterbacks the Panthers could trade for this offseason.
