Daniel Jones – New York Giants

With a changing of the guard seemingly taking place on the New York Giants, the new general manager and head coach combination might decide to start afresh at the quarterback position, too.

Daniel Jones has some nice traits to call upon, but ball security has been a major issue for the former first-round pick. Unless this changes in the coming years, then taking him so high was a major gamble that didn’t pay off.

Jones is mobile and has a rocket for an arm, so if the Giants did put him on the trade block, there would likely be some interest. The Carolina Panthers picked up one reclamation project in Sam Darnold with little to no success, so the prospect of doing this again would not go down well with the team’s disillusioned fanbase.

The similarities between Jones and Darnold are there for all to see. Two players with talent but obvious flaws that might be unfixable given what we’ve seen so far.

Although unlikely, a trade such as this cannot be dismissed entirely. One that would probably pile even more pressure on Matt Rhule given he has the final say on personnel decisions.

Jones might turn things around somewhere. And players that enter the NFL so high in the draft process normally get more chances than most.
