Re-grading Panthers position groups on offense after the 2021 season

Carolina Panthers OL
This was the worst offensive line performance that I have ever seen in 24 years on this green earth.
What were they thinking?
There were three good decisions made all year. Signing Taylor Moton, drafting Brady Christensen, and then finally starting the rookie at left tackle. Everything else should be thrown out the window with the exception of seeing what the Carolina Panthers have in sixth-round pick Deonte Brown.
Pat Elflein struggled, Cam Erving was as advertised, John Miller was a nightmare, Matt Paradis rapidly became inconsistent before going down through injury. But none of that should really be a surprise.
The most vital position for the offense is its protection. If the quarterback doesn’t get enough time in the pocket and holes don’t come in the run game, then even the most talented players will struggle.
It really is that simple.
One could get into the stats and all the gritty details but there is no point. We all saw how this line performed, we all saw the truly remarkable amount of sacks they surrendered and the effect they had on the team, there is nothing more to say.
- Preseason Grade: C
- Final Grade: F
The team just might have a starting duo for the foreseeable future in Christensen and Moton but everything else is not worth the time or investment in keeping around. This line was broken from the start and should have never been attempted.
