Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

Not only was wide receiver Robby Anderson the biggest disappointment for the Carolina Panthers this season, but he was arguably one of the biggest throughout the entire league.

After signing a two-year, $29.5 million contract extension during the offseason following a career year with more than 1,000 receiving yards in his first season as a Panthers, Anderson was a complete dud this year.

In 17 games, Anderson hauled in 53 receptions for a career-low 519 yards. He did have five touchdowns but averaged a mere 30.5 receiving yards per game.

Anderson had many drops throughout the year, and frankly, didn’t look very motivated. He had some outbursts on the sideline in the first half of the season with quarterback Sam Darnold and couldn’t get anything else going with Cam Newton either.

The former Temple star’s contract isn’t completely untradeable in the final year. But it would be nice if he could get back to his normal self for the Panthers to have a formidable wide receiver alongside D.J. Moore.

Not living up to his breakout season is one thing. But to completely be a shell of himself is another.

And that’s exactly what happened. So whether Anderson can turn things around with whoever is under center in 2022 will have a big say on how his career goes moving forward.
