Reviewing 5 bold Carolina Panthers predicitons before the 2021 season
By Luke Gray
How did our bold predictions before the 2021 season fare as the Carolina Panthers once again flattered to deceive en route to another five-win campaign?
Now the dust has settled on an abysmal Carolina Panthers 2021 season, it’s time to look back and review our bold predictions before competitive action began.
After three weeks of the season, the Panthers were on cloud nine. Carolina picked up their third win on Thursday Night Football at the Houston Texans, the Matt Rhule and his roster found themselves undefeated through games with some exceptional early momentum.
Sam Darnold, who was acquired from the New York Jets for three draft picks, was playing the best football of his career under center. But what followed over the next 13 weeks was nothing short of comical.
In that time, Carolina had more starting quarterbacks than wins, with the return of former NFL MVP Cam Newton doing little to halt the slide in Charlotte despite his return completely injected life into the organization for a brief period.
After some positives in 2020 during a 5-11 season, to finish 5-12 and regress a year later is a major concern. However, it seems David Tepper will grant Rhule one more season to turn things around.
Without further ado, we took a look at our bold predictions before the 2021 season began and see how right, or wrong, they were.
