Carolina Panthers S Jeremy Chinn will be named to the Pro Bowl

  • Result: Almost

Jeremy Chinn was named a third alternate at safety for the 2022 Pro Bowl, so depending on how the playoffs pan out, we may see the former Southern Illinois stud in Las Vegas.

Chinn joined some elite company in the 2021 season, becoming the first Carolina Panthers player since Jon Beason and Luke Kuechly to start their career with back-to-back 100 tackle seasons. He ended the campaign with 102 tackles, one sack, and one interception.

One might argue that we could have seen more big plays from the Indiana native. But compared to 2020, Chinn had much better pieces around him on defense.

Defensive coordinator Phil Snow hinted that the coaching staff could think of the idea of moving Chinn from safety back to an outside linebacker in 2022. However, the Panthers didn’t get much consistent production from elsewhere on the backend until the late-season emergence of former XFL star Kenny Robinson.

If the staff does decide to switch Chinn back to the second level once again, this could open the door for the decision-makers to take Notre Dame stud, Kyle Hamilton, at No. 6 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

That would be a big call to make considering the need for offensive line reinforcements. But that should not detract from what a special player Hamilton could be at the next level.
