Jameis Winston – QB

  • 2021 team – New Orleans Saints

Jameis Winston will be one of the most interesting free agents of the offseason. The quarterback has been a gunslinger during his career, hitting a lot of deep shots and big plays. This has also come with a myriad of turnovers that led to him losing his job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and joining the New Orleans Saints.

Having to sit for a full season and watching his replacement win the Super Bowl was good for Winston. He looked like a top-15 quarterback early on with the Saints, including an impressive blowout win over the Green Bay Packers.

When Winston was injured and unable to go for the Saints their season went sideways. How much he was doing for New Orleans became apparent after the quarterback’s unfortunate injury.

Winston is going to be a starter in the league next year depending on how he recovers and will be a tempting answer for the Carolina Panthers, at least for the short term.

However, considering Winston’s past issues with turnovers and the risks of regression, he isn’t a fit for Carolina.

Signing Winston on the strength of the few games he played this season is a risk. One the Panthers cannot afford after whiffing on Sam Darnold and giving up three draft picks in the process.
