5 free agents the Carolina Panthers must avoid this offseason

Antonio Brown – WR
- 2021 team – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Antonio Brown is one of the best receivers to ever step foot in the NFL. He is also a player that has imploded with four different teams over the last five years.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have all been bitten by Brown and suffered a similar ending.
Based on Brown’s talent, it wouldn’t shock me to see the wideout get yet another shot on a prove-it deal next season. His ability will continue to earn him chances to play until his skills begin to leave him.
Slotting Brown on the Carolina Panthers would make sense if they hadn’t had a front-row seat to what happened when their division rival signed him. A Super Bowl ring and the best quarterback in league history weren’t enough to keep him happy.
He left in the middle of a game at the New York Jets making a dramatic show of his exit pointing to what every team that has signed him knows. Brown is only about one person on the football field, himself.
The player is toxic to locker rooms and harmful to your franchise considering his history. Some team will likely find a bargain in signing Brown, but that team cannot be the Panthers.
Because no matter how long you make it work and the elite production he may provide, Brown is still going to be about himself, and his tenure is likely going to end in ugly fashion. The Panthers cannot afford to add themselves to the list.
