Which Carolina Panthers players should not be given up on during what promises to be a crucial offseason for the organization in 2022?

One of the most important factors of any offseason period in the NFL is evaluation. Whether it’s free agents, current roster members, or incoming draft prospects, the Carolina Panthers and others across the league have much work to do in the coming months in pursuit of putting themselves in a good position ahead of training camp.

That might seem like some way off for the Panthers, who are once again watching the postseason from home after a complete capitulation following such a promising start. But major dates in the calendar are fast approaching and with Matt Rhule seemingly in charge once again, the under-pressure head coach knows he cannot put a foot wrong.

It was another campaign of vast underachievement, poor in-game coaching, and questionable personnel moves. And there will be more than a few players nervously awaiting their fate in the coming months.

With this in mind, here are five players the Panthers should not give up on in 2022, for very differing reasons.

Deonte Brown – Carolina Panthers OG

There was plenty of intrigue surrounding the sixth-round selection of Deonte Brown in 2021. The mammoth interior offensive lineman out of Alabama was a dominant figure at the college level, but weight concerns caused a disastrous slide onto Day 3 of the draft before the Carolina Panthers scooped him up.

Brown has his share of struggles in Year 1 of his pro career. Keeping his weight down was an obvious complication and the Panthers seemed reluctant to put him in the lineup, resulting in just 30 snaps throughout the campaign.

This offseason is a significant one for Brown. Carolina will undoubtedly strengthen their options across the protection, but it might be worth getting the guard involved more providing the necessary improvements are made.
