Los Angeles Chargers

Although the Los Angeles Chargers narrowly missed out on the playoffs this season, they are clearly a franchise heading in the right direction. Justin Herbert has all the makings of a superstar after just two years in the league and he is benefitting significantly from some exceptional game-changers on offense and defense to further assist the team moving forward.

It promises to be a fascinating offseason period in Los Angeles. The Chargers have somewhere in the region of $62.3 million in salary-cap space currently and targeting Haason Reddick if he’s allowed to leave the Carolina Panthers would give their ever-improving defensive unit a huge shot in the arm.

Pairing Reddick opposite Joey Bosa would give the Chargers arguably the league’s best pass-rushing tandem. Getting after the quarterback was a solid if not spectacular area of the team in 2021, but adding the former first-round pick would instantly make them a completely different force.

Having Herbert on his rookie deal gives the Chargers some breathing space to strengthen other areas of their roster over the next two seasons. They already have everything in place on offense after bolstering their protection last spring, so focusing on the other side of the ball could be the organization’s top priority in the coming weeks.
