5 most overhyped Carolina Panthers from the 2021 season

Terrace Marshall Jr. – Carolina Panthers WR
There was a tremendous amount of intrigue surrounding Terrace Marshall Jr. before the season. The Carolina Panthers spurned the chance to take a premier offensive lineman in the second round to select the former LSU wide receiver at No. 59 overall, which was something of a surprise but a decision that was set to propel the passing game to even greater heights.
Marshall stood out during his time with the Tigers, although he was overshadowed by the likes of Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson despite his undeniable talent. If the Panthers were hoping he would make the same smooth transition as his college teammates, they were sorely mistaken.
The wideout was virtually anonymous throughout the season. Marshall was a frustrated figure with few targets coming his way and the coaching staff even made him a healthy scratch for their game at the Miami Dolphins before the bye week.
During his rookie season, Marshall was targeted just 30 times, bringing in 17 receptions for 138 receiving yards. Not exactly what anybody anticipated and the situation was made worse when one looked at how the likes of Creed Humphrey and others performed who were available at the time.
Again, one cannot write Marshall off just yet. But the player has a significant amount of work ahead of him this offseason in the hope he can become a much bigger factor in 2022 and beyond.
