The Carolina Panthers could be in line to feature on HBO’s Hard Knocks this year, which is something they should probably avoid in the circumstances.

With attention already turning to the 2022 season, the Carolina Panthers could be in contention to receive national exposure by appearing on HBO’s iconic Hard Knocks series during training camp. This is always one of the offseason highlights for NFL fans, who get a behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day goings-on at one particular franchise with access not normally granted to the media.

According to multiple reports this week, the Panthers are on a shortlist of three that could be forced to appear in the documentary judging by the usual recommendations given by the league. They didn’t reach the playoffs and don’t currently have a new head coach despite some extreme pressure on Matt Rhule’s shoulders, which lists them as potential candidates alongside the Detroit Lions and New York Jets.

While this is normally a cause for great excitement, it might also be ill-advised considering the current state of the franchise and just how important this offseason period is for Rhule and the Panthers overall.

Perhaps the Jets and Lions might be more attractive options for HBO. But unless something gets confirmed one way or another, Carolina will be linked until told otherwise.

With this in mind, here are three reasons why the Panthers would be wise to avoid Hard Knocks if presented with the opportunity.
