5 former Carolina Panthers players who would be great head coaches

Greg Olsen – Former Carolina Panthers TE
Much like the situation involving Luke Kuechly, the Carolina Panthers haven’t quite managed to fully replace Greg Olsen after the tight end left in 2020 free agency for the Seattle Seahawks. There remains hope third-round pick Tommy Tremble can become the complete package one day, but the Notre Dame product needs to brush up his pass-catching prowess this offseason with a view to making more of an impression next time around.
Olsen spent one season in Seattle before retiring as a Panther. This immediately came with an offer to become an analyst for FOX Sports and the transition has been nothing short of fantastic.
The three-time Pro Bowler’s intelligence and ability to communicate effectively to those watching has been refreshing to see. But for those who’ve followed Olsen’s career, it doesn’t come as a surprise.
Olsen was one of the top dogs in Carolina during their period of success in the 2010s. A quiet, fierce demeanor on the field was matched by doing everything he possibly could to motivate and assist young members of the roster away from the gridiron.
Coaching might not be in Olsen’s mindset, but the traits he displayed as a player makes it an intriguing hypothetical scenario, at the very least. One that the Miami product might consider somewhere down the line depending on how things progress in the booth.
