Carolina Panthers must prioritize OL

Watching the offensive line constantly concede pressure was not surprising when one considers the fumbled approach to recruitment in free agency and the 2021 NFL Draft. It made things extremely difficult for whoever was under center and if this continues for much longer, even more people will pay with their jobs.

The current options on the Carolina Panthers are simply not good enough.

That’s the long and short of it really.

Improving the protection should be Carolina’s absolute top priority this offseason. Whether that’s by making a splash in free agency or spending the No. 6 overall selection on acquiring an elite prospect, this critical area of the field cannot be ignored any longer.

Building through the trenches is the hallmark of any successful franchise. And there are very few quarterbacks in the league that can perform effectively without a stable offensive line in front of them.

Going for veterans of a similar ilk to Cam Erving and Pat Elflein isn’t going to cut it anymore. Only the best will do and if the Panthers can strike it lucky in terms of personnel, then the benefits are there for all to see.

Only right tackle Taylor Moton is guaranteed a starting berth in 2022. So there is much work to be done unless the likes of Brady Christensen and Deonte Brown make significant strides.
