4 easy decisions the Carolina Panthers must make this offseason

Carolina Panthers must explore every QB avenue
The Carolina Panthers appear to be stuck with Sam Darnold unless they can somehow convince another team he’s worth trading for. His bombshell move from the New York Jets started well before tailing off dramatically, which leaves the coaching staff facing the prospect of starting the USC product once again after they picked up his fifth-year option that comes with a guaranteed $18.85 million.
Darnold needs to turn things around in an emphatic way to be considered the long-term solution in Carolina. However, there is little to suggest flaws in his game can be rectified heading into the player’s fifth year as a professional.
Whether it’s Darnold or someone else. Forming a solution that prevents any further complications at the most important position on the field is an easy decision for the Panthers.
That might not come this season, obviously. Although the Panthers will surely keep a close eye on the situation regarding Houston Texans signal-caller Deshaun Watson despite his legal issues and the potential compensation involved.
Gambling on reclamation projects has blown up in Carolina’s face over the last two seasons. Another false move could spell the end for Matt Rhule and others.
Deciding what to do long-term at quarterback is an easy decision to make. But just what that’s going to be is dependent on who has the biggest say.
