Which intriguing free agents could the Carolina Panthers potentially snag on the cheap to improve their fortunes during the 2022 season?

Free agency is always an extremely important time of year. For the Carolina Panthers, the decisions made could go a long way to determining whether Matt Rhule and his staff are truly capable of turning things around when competitive action begins once again in 2022.

There isn’t much in the way of spare funds, with the Panthers having just $18.98 million available to spend right now, according to Spotrac. This could obviously be altered with restructures and early sacrifices elsewhere, but it’s clear that some bargain hunting might be in order to strengthen problem positional groups considering the financial constraints.

This becomes even more important when one considers the Panthers don’t currently have a Day 2 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. So those in power find themselves in a real predicament especially with a large number of established veterans also out of contract.

Without further ado, here are five upcoming free agents that Carolina could snag on the cheap this offseason.

Sam Tevi – OT

  • 2021 team – Indianapolis Colts

Much was expected of Sam Tevi when he joined the Indianapolis Colts. But a torn ACL prior to the season left him on the shelf for the entire campaign.

Providing the former sixth-round pick is at full health before the season, it might be worth the Carolina Panthers picking up the phone to secure his services. Tevi was pretty consistent on the Los Angeles Chargers and can play either tackle position, which could be a real asset to an offensive line that remains an area of significant concern.

Tevi is coming off a serious injury, so he might be inclined to accept a lesser deal. Something that won’t go unnoticed by the Panthers in pursuit of strengthening their protection options.
