5 intriguing free agents Panthers could snag on the cheap in 2022

Dan Feeney – OL
- 2021 team – New York Jets
As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers are absolutely desperate for help on their offensive line. This is a unit that’s been relatively ignored for far too long and if the organization does so again this spring, the repercussions will be severe.
General manager Scott Fitterer and head coach Matt Rhule both declared their intentions to prioritize the protection in the coming weeks. Hopefully, it’s something they go through with and it isn’t just smoke and mirrors before focusing on somewhere else.
Only Taylor Moton is guaranteed to start next season. There is hope for Brady Christensen after some encouraging displays down the stretch, with Pat Elflein also in contention to start at the center spot once again after making an eye-catching transition once Matt Paradis went down with an ACL injury in Week 9 against the New England Patriots.
Although he was used sparingly by the New York Jets in 2021, Dan Feeney is someone that comes with some nice skills and might be available on a cheap, short-term deal. The former third-round pick caught the eye from 185 snaps en route to a 75.9 grade from Pro Football Focus, with his ability to play anywhere on the interior something else that shouldn’t be overlooked.
This would also give Feeney a chance to win a starting job outright. He might not be the flashiest man to walk through the door, but it could be a shrewd pickup in Carolina’s current financial dilemma.
