5 intriguing free agents Panthers could snag on the cheap in 2022

Byron Pringle – WR
- 2021 team – Kansas City Chiefs
D.J. Moore was the only Carolina Panthers wide receiver to emerge with any credit this season. The former first-round pick went over 1,000 yards once again despite another distinct lack of consistency under center, but the likes of Robby Anderson and Terrace Marshall Jr. struggled to make any sort of impression and more is definitely needed next time around.
Perhaps the Panthers will rely on Marshall and Shi Smith making some strides during the preparation period. There is also the possibility of taking another dynamic prospect via the draft to further bolster their options.
If they choose to go down the free agency route, then Carolina could do far worse than look in Byron Pringle’s direction. The Kansas City Chiefs speedster has been a reliable target for Patrick Mahomes throughout the season and there is every chance he could thrive further with additional responsibility on his shoulders.
Spotrac projects Pringle to make an annual salary of $3.2 million in free agency. Although the Chiefs have enough to keep him around, the chance of more targets elsewhere will be a tempting one for the wideout at 28 years old.
This is something the Panthers could provide in no uncertain terms. But whether Pringle would be interested in joining a team with no plan at quarterback is highly debatable.
Pringle is a difference-maker on the up. So if Kansas City does let him hit the market, he’s unlikely to be short of offers.
