Carolina Panthers could sign Tyler Huntley (ERFA)

  • 2021 team – Baltimore Ravens

Although there are plenty of moving parts to this particular candidate, Tyler Huntley’s production for the Baltimore Ravens when Lamar Jackson went down through injury could lead some teams in his direction this offseason. The quarterback is an early restricted free agent – which needs to be considered – but it might be worth a gamble if the former Utah standout makes the necessary improvements throughout the offseason.

Huntley was thrust into the limelight in Jackson’s absence. While many inexperienced players would have folded in such a scenario, the player more than held his own and should be all the better for the experience of a true game-day environment.

While it would be a big-time risk signing Huntley and making him the starter, he does boast some intriguing physical attributes that could push Sam Darnold all the way in training camp. The Carolina Panthers did re-sign P.J. Walker to a one-year extension, but this should not stop them from bringing in another potential option if the right fit emerges.

Huntley is an athletic specimen who represents a dual-threat capable of making a difference. There are some flaws that need to be eradicated, but the upside is there for all to see.

The Panthers could do far worse than looking in Huntley’s direction. However, there is a chance that the Ravens keep him around.
