Carolina Panthers could sign Tyrod Taylor
- 2021 team – Houston Texans
It was another season of misfortune for Tyrod Taylor in 2021. Something that’s hampered the veteran and denied him a clear run of starting games over the last two seasons.
After a punctured lung prevented him from leading the Los Angeles Chargers last time around until Justin Herbert was ready to assume command, another opportunity arose on the Houston Texans, who were looking for a stable presence under center with all the drama surrounding Deshaun Watson’s future.
Sadly, another injury derailed his progress once again. And with the Texans struggling as expected, the coaching staff decided to use this time to integrate third-round selection Davis Mills into the starting lineup.
Taylor ended up starting six games and winning two. While that might not be mind-blowing, there were some mitigating factors in play and if the Carolina Panthers are looking for someone to compete with Sam Darnold in 2022, then the former Virginia Tech start should be high on the shortlist.
This would be a cost-effective signing if nothing else. Taylor has flashed during his career, possesses a Super Bowl ring, and was also selected to the Pro Bowl in 2015 with the Buffalo Bills.
