What could the Carolina Panthers potentially offer the Seattle Seahawks in order to get their hands on veteran quarterback Russell Wilson?

No sooner had the 2021 season come to a conclusion, speculation began surrounding just what the Carolina Panthers were going to do at quarterback once again. This is far from an ideal situation – one that’s made worse by Sam Darnold’s fifth-year option – but the simple fact is those in power could potentially be on the lookout for their third starting signal-caller in as many offseasons under the current regime.

Darnold’s inconsistencies mean he simply cannot be relied upon. With the free-agent market not exactly loaded with talent and the 2022 NFL Draft class coming with some concerns, the Panthers will possibly explore the option of landing a marquee player in the trade market.

This is something they tried and failed with last spring in pursuit of Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and Matthew Stafford. Going after the former Clemson star without his legal matters resolving is a major gamble, but if Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks decide it’s time for a fresh start, then making them an offer is something that should be considered.

Wilson has a previous relationship with general manager Scott Fitterer, who was director of college scouting in Seattle when the signal-caller was drafted. The Wisconsin product does have a no-trade clause and it remains to be seen whether the player and his wife Ciara would want to reside in Charlotte for a lengthy period of time.

This might not be something the Panthers are thinking about right now. But we put together three hypothetical trade offers that could see a deal struck.
