5 studs the Panthers should monitor from Senior Bowl practice Day 2
By Dean Jones
Cole Strange – C (Tennessee-Chattanooga)
As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers are desperate for assistance when it comes to protecting the quarterback. Only the ultra-consistent Taylor Moton is guaranteed to be a starter from the team’s current options, although there remains some hope from the outside looking in that Brady Christensen and Deonte Brown can make strides in Year 2 of their respective careers.
With Matt Paradis out of contract and Pat Elflein’s lack of production evident, the center position is one that needs some stability. The sooner Carolina can accomplish this, the better their chances of making a bigger impression next season will be.
Although he isn’t considered among the most high-profile linemen in this class, Cole Strange is someone who is boosting his draft stock enormously at the 2022 Senior Bowl. The Tennessee-Chattanooga product is slight of build but plays much bigger, displaying the sort of technique and tenacity that won’t go unnoticed by NFL scouts.
Many analysts project he could be a starter in a zone scheme. So whether he’ll be on the Panthers’ radar is dependent on what offensive line coach James Campen and offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo choose to run working in cohesion with head coach Matt Rhule.
Strange is making a strong case for himself. But he’ll need to keep this up in the weeks ahead before the draft.
