4 Carolina Panthers players that must be re-signed urgently this offseason
By Jason Huber
Which upcoming free agents should the Carolina Panthers definitely make sure they re-sign urgently this offseason?
The Carolina Panthers just finished their fourth-straight season with a losing record and third-straight with only five wins. As head coach Matt Rhule enters Year 3, there will need to be some major changes this offseason if he wants the team to compete and how they handle free agency will be pivotal in that.
General manager Scott Fitterer made some splashy moves in his first year with the Panthers last season and entering this offseason, he will have some even bigger decisions to make.
Carolina will have around $18.98 million in cap space barring any contract restructures and they have 22 players that are free agents. The money is subject to change, though after the NFL Draft.
There are a lot of needs for this team but there is also a window of opportunity in the NFC South division. It seems like a tall task to jump from five wins to a playoff contender but it’s not impossible when one considers the turmoil currently on the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With this in mind, here are four Panthers players who must be re-signed as a matter of urgency in 2022 if Carolina wants to stand any chance of progressing next time around.
