Carolina Panthers select Jamaree Salyer – OL (Georgia)

After getting a potential franchise quarterback in Round 1, attention now turns to solidify an offensive line that was among the league’s worst to nobody’s surprise. The Carolina Panthers made some questionable decisions in terms of recruitment last spring, something that played a leading role in the team’s eventual demise after losing 12 of their final 14 games.

Much will depend on how the Panthers see Brady Christensen’s best position moving forward. The third-round pick left a notable impression at left tackle and was certainly an upgrade on Cam Erving, but there appears some reluctance from Matt Rhule to make a lasting commitment to the BYU product on the blindside long-term.

Fortunately for the Panthers, this is a deep class of offensive lineman and acquiring a second-round pick leaves them with plenty of enticing options. Jamaree Salyer is one name on the shortlist, with the versatile prospect emerging as a commanding force for the Georgia Bulldogs en route to a convincing national championship in 2021.

Salyer has the consistency and power to become a real force protecting the quarterback. He is capable of filling most positions across the line, which is something Carolina values in its recruitment from the college ranks.

This is a pretty safe pick, in all honesty. Salyer has Day 1 starter written all over him, but just what position that is remains to be seen.
