4 big draft gambles the Carolina Panthers could take at No. 6 overall
Carolina Panthers could gamble on Kyle Hamilton – S (Notre Dame)
Kyle Hamilton is a freak of an athlete and will be a steal for any team that gets him. He’s arguably the top player in this entire draft and he could potentially take the Carolina Panthers defense to the next level if they opted to go in this particular direction.
However, with other needs on the team, Hamilton could be a luxury pick and one the Panthers might not be able to afford right now.
At 6-foot-4 and 219 pounds, Hamilton can become another hybrid playmaker on the backend for Carolina. A similar role to the one Jeremy Chinn occupies with great success.
Hamilton has range, speed, tackling ability, and awareness in abundance. The former Notre Dame stud could be a supreme chess piece for defensive coordinator Phil Snow – one that brings endless possibilities.
He can make an immediate impact on Carolina’s defense. But the offense can’t go through another season of what they produced this season.
The Panthers have bigger needs than strengthening their secondary. One suspects the offensive line and quarterback are the top two crucial needs for the team going into the draft.
These problem positional groups held the team back and many games could have ended differently if it was not for the offense. Hamilton is a great option at No. 6, but the Panthers have bigger needs.
